Museum Purchase funded by Miriam Sample, 1994.

Looking downstream at the afterbay and tailwater fisheries on the Little Bighorn River below Yellowtail Dam, this composition is a tracery of manmade linearities superimposed on the ancestral homeland of the Crow Indians. Meandering and intersecting roads and highways lead back to vast, striped stretches of grain field stubble and summer fallow highlighted by snow. One of America's foremost landscape painters, Chuck Forsman teaches at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
